Vintage Art Deco Matson Lines ca:1948 E.Savage Cruise Ship Menu Hawaiiana Tiki
This is an amazing example of Art Deco style
by artist Eugene Savage. The artist was
commissioned by the Matson Navigation
Company to create a series of murals in 1938
but due to World War II, the artworks did
not appear publicly until 1948. They were then
reproduced as menu covers on the S.S. Lurline.
These are highly collectible. I am listing now
six menus from a cruise taken in April-May
1948. All of the menus are in gently used
condition. They do have light wear around the
edges, creases down the middle where they fold,
some darkening around the edges and one of
them has quite a bit of exposure to possible
sunlight. The menu listed here is the one with
the darkened area you can clearly see at the
top and bottom. That one looks as if something
was laid on top and exposed for a period of time.
The menus measure folded approx.
13 3/4" X 10 1/2". I do offer combined shipping.
Should you purchase more than one let me
know when you are done shopping and I will
send a combined invoice when you have
completed your purchases.
